Out of everyone who did so well tonight, I have got to tell you that I am probably the most proud of you. You just did an incredible job. I did not get the chance to see your duet musical, but "Mein Herr" was INCREDIBLE. The choreography, your voice, your bravery (girl, doing a dance like that while balancing not only on a chair but on one leg is brave), and your attitude towards the part. You so deserved everything you got tonight...I wanted you to know how excited I am for you.

Ashley -

First off - I would post this as a journal post, but for some reason I haven't been able to post any entries in a really long time. It's like messed up or something. So sorry it's not it's own little thing.. Now.. You are so incredibly sweet. You just made me cry, I swear to you. You really did amazing at showcase, and i'm sure you nailed it today too. I'm really sorry I didn't get to see all of your items. Seriously. I really wanted to, because some of the really good people go somewhat unnoticed, and that's not fair. You really are an amazingly talented person, and sometimes the politics of CGHS Drama aren't fair, but what can you do? You're off to college, for new and exciting sites! And I know you're going to thrive! I'm so excited, and when you go off to college, you can't forget the little people that you knew along the way.. From Guys and Dolls to Districts 04-05 - I'm always going to be here for you!!!

:) Thank you. That really made me happy.

I just had to tell you how well you did. I watched "Mein Herr", and I always knew you had a great voice, but to get up there and really make that song all you could make it is brave to me. You were front and center, and it was so obvious why. I saw your duet at showcase, and that was excellent, too. I guess one of the more amazing parts is that you are only a sophomore, and already you have this talent. I can only imagine what will happen as you get older...and I'll come back from Tallahassee to watch. I figure if Dan got to, then I get to as well.

It's okay that you didn't see my pieces. They really didn't work out like I planned. I couldn't hear my music at all, which freaked me out to no end, and being that scared led to the other mistakes I made. The scene wasn't as good as it was on Thursday...sometimes that happens. We did the best we could, though, and that is all anyone can ask for.

Thank you. And you're right...there are people who do go unnoticed. And yes, there are politics. They annoy me sometimes (okay, a lot), but the thing of it is that if you are one of the people who is used to not getting a lead, or not getting a part, or whatever, you get used to rejection. There are people who are always cast who get upset if they don't get the role they want (I'm sure you can name a few...I know I can), and I almost want to say to them, "Welcome to the real world." Should they persue theater in a bigger arena, they will see what it's really like. And that is one issue I don't have...so I'm glad.

I was really happy for all of you last night. Everyone who got a superior or an excellent deserved it. I am genuinely happy about it. The thing about ITS is that a victory for one of us is a victory for all of us in a sense.

And now you're going to get to go to states! I hear it's awesome.

I'll definitely keep in touch (I am so keeping up my livejournal at FSU...I'm addicted!), and remember that I am here for you as well...no matter what!
