-Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City
As you can see, I have today off (thank you, raffle). I am also taking tomorrow off and devoting it to volunteering for the Kerry-Edwards campaign. I figure that:
a) It was really nice of my mom to let me.
b) They need all the help they can get right now.
c) All those fanatical "OH MY GOD YOU THINK ABORTION/HOMOSEXUALITY/FORNICATION IS OKAY?" Bush fans really need someone to pick on, especially a "naive" 17-year-old. Plus, I really think it makes them happy to find a child whom they've decided has no moral code whatsoever. And then I tell them that I do believe in God, and they're stunned. It's the dance we do.
d) I am a service hour whore.
e) Last, and most importantly, I've learned from this experience that when you get the chance to put your feet and hands to your beliefs...to really truly stand up and be counted for something that you support wholeheartedly, you should do it. This is one of my chances.
Today, I am going to do some errands, etc. I have to fax my surgeon's office my letter from my primary doctor (YAY! HE DID IT!), fax a service hour sheet to someone who owes me hours, etc etc. I may go see a movie or something.
