I walk these streets in a spectacle

"The one thing they can't take away from you is your truth. The question is, can you handle mine?" -(of all people) Britney Spears

Yes, I quoted her. Or I could possibly have quoted Bobby Brown, who did that song before her. Anyway, since I have a passion for all things profound and philosophical, I appreciated that.

Last night I babysat for this really nice family. It was probably the easiest sitting job I've ever had, considering that the kids were old enough to entertain themselves. I basically read a book, solved a couple of squabbles, and made dinner. Austin, The Alchemist is great. I'm reading it now and I am totally in love with it.

Obviously, this means that I really didn't go to Homecoming. I think that surprised some people, particularly teachers. Mrs. Loewe and this junior girl Whitney said in unison, "You're not going in your senior year?" on Friday when they asked me and I told them no. I just didn't feel like it, and I didn't feel at all bad for going. Jon asked me if I was trying to make some kind of statement, and although that sounds exactly like something I would do, I wasn't. Plus, I think Homecoming is a nice thing. I just didn't want to be part of it this year.

Gilmore Girls has a marathon on today, so I've watched a bit of that. Good stuff. Rory's so cool. I think it's awesome that someone finally created a character that is pretty but is not always with a guy, who is smart but not nerdy-looking, who is intelligent but does not have all the answers.

I've realized that sometimes things happen to you that cut you so deeply they leave a really big scar on your life and on your personality, and even when it's all over and you're finally okay again...you'll be forever different.

And NO, it's not about a person. LOL.

P.S. Rachel has been officially corrupted- she now has a livejournal. Rach, add me back. Go to "your friends" and click the check mark next to my name.

P.P.S. I now have an FSU flag on my door, covering half of it. GO SEMINOLES!

The one thing that I totally love about you is how you're so...you. Who cares if you don't go to Homecoming? If you don't want to go, then don't go. If you want to go, then go. It's that simple. Plus you're so much more mature than your peers. Everyone is freaking out about Homecoming and school spirit and you're like "Pshah, this is high school. I've got school spirit for my college, and that's the place that REALLY helps me be who I really am."

Or I could be totally misinterpreting that. Just my own observation...

Thank you! I really needed to hear that. That is such a special thing to say. It really made my day and made me smile. *hugs*

Love you! O:-)
