It's called the first amendment...perhaps you haven't heard of it

After a thorough check of the LJs, there seems to be a lot of anger towards disappointed Kerry supporters. Let me just say this: as sick as our disappointment makes you, your intolerance of a person's right to say what he or she wants sickens me more. Look, I've put up with all this, "HA HA HA!!! LOOK WHO WON!!!!" crap without much complaint. So if I have to put up with all the "W'O4" bullshit, then you are going to have to put up with the fact that I am disappointed that Kerry didn't win. Please excuse me if I had a little hope for my country and my future. Oh, and I'm so sorry that I decided to exercise my first amendment right.

Believe me, I'm happy that you all are happy. I think it's great that the person whom the country totally supported won. But the lovely thing about this country is that I don't have to be happy about what happened and I can bitch about it for the next four years if I want to. And no, I'm not going to "forget John Kerry and John Edwards in ten years" (yeah, I directly quoted someone there, but don't worry, this entry isn't all about you). I actually learned a lot from campaigning for him, and I will never forget that as long as I live. Campaigning for Kerry made me realize how great this country actually is. I get to stand on a street corner and express my views and I'm not going to get shot for it! How amazing is that? Seriously! Maybe you have to have a family that lived in a communist country to understand how free you are here. That's what's so nice about America. We have options and opinions. And guess what else? It's your choice as to whether you want to read my livejournal or not. So if you're incredibly pissed off about the fact that I am not supportive of our president or the majority of what he stands for, then you don't have to read this. It's really quite simple.

If you're a frequent visitor to my journal, you know that I don't generally get mad at a group of people often. I get mad at people who piss me off at school, or my mom, or my dad, or God, or whatever. I just never get quite this pissed. Therefore, you can see that I really think that people are taking the wrong approach to this whole thing. Let people say what they want to say on both sides of the issue and let's move on.

I just really get sad when I see people being so intolerant like this. I may not like your opinion, but at least I'm not posting things on my livejournal along the lines of, "Those Bush people are so fucking happy! Shut the fuck up already! Get the fuck over it! Etc etc etc!" like I've been seeing with a lot of Bush supporters.

I personally want to write my rants and read them, too.
